Licensing & compliance

Regulated at every step.

Healthcare doesn't leave room for shortcuts. Here's exactly how Vitalyst and our parent company, Huff Consulting, keep every placement licensed, verified, and accountable.

Our license

Licensed to operate as a nursing pool in North Carolina.

Huff Consulting is the parent company of Vitalyst Clinical Partners and holds our nursing pool license through the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation (DHSR). We provide staffing solutions to healthcare facilities across the entire state of North Carolina.

Credentialing

Every clinician is vetted before we ever present them.

No one reaches a facility's desk as a candidate until they've cleared every one of these steps.

Primary-source license verification

RN and LPN licenses are verified directly through the North Carolina Board of Nursing (NCBON). CNA certifications are verified through the NC Nurse Aide Registry, confirming every credential is active and unencumbered.

Criminal background screening

Every candidate undergoes a comprehensive national background check before onboarding. Records are reviewed individually and fairly, weighing the nature of any offense, time elapsed, and evidence of rehabilitation, rather than issuing blanket disqualifications.

Work history & references

We look for relevant experience in the specialty being placed, and contact professional references directly to confirm clinical competence and reliability.

Competency review

Candidates complete a role-specific competency checklist, which our team reviews against their documented work history before they're considered placement-ready.

Ongoing oversight

Credentialing doesn't stop at placement.

  • Every license and certification is tracked on a master credential record, audited weekly, with automatic flags 60 days before expiration
  • Any credential that lapses moves a clinician to inactive status and off the schedule until it's verified and current
  • New placements are checked in on weekly for the first 30 days, then at least every two weeks after that
  • A dual-supervision model keeps both administrative oversight (credentialing, compliance) and clinical oversight (scope-of-practice questions, performance) in place, alongside the facility's own day-to-day supervision
Training & safety

Current on the fundamentals, every time.

  • Current CPR/BLS certification and all state-required continuing education units (CEUs) are required and verified
  • Every clinician completes facility-specific orientation on EMR systems, floor protocols, and unit safety before their first shift
  • Fire safety, emergency preparedness, and universal precautions (including bloodborne pathogen standards) are core requirements we track for every placement
Patient rights & professional conduct

Held to the same standard we'd want for our own families.

  • HIPAA and patient privacy compliance are non-negotiable, including strict limits on discussing patient information and handling records electronically
  • Every patient's right to dignified, private, and respectful care is treated as a baseline standard, not an aspiration
  • Suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation must be reported immediately on-site and to our leadership within 24 hours, with mandatory reporting to the appropriate state agency when required by North Carolina law
  • Anyone who reports a concern in good faith is protected from retaliation, in accordance with North Carolina regulations

We built these standards because in healthcare, there's no acceptable version of "close enough." If you have questions about our credentialing or compliance process, we're glad to answer them directly.
